Tech Companion

Extended reality model as base for trainings and most advanced digital solutions from RENK
An extended reality model is a virtual 3D replica of a customer's gear unit system and a key element for all training courses. The model serves as base for various applications and is compatible for display in augmented reality, virtual reality as well as mobile devices and computers. The model itself is project specific but useable for all types of training courses within a project.
The data basis for the model is prepared and provided by RENK for its own in-house production. Components from third-party suppliers can also be integrated, however, the specification is required for these or dummy data are used.
With the digital twin available, the functions of the application/product Tech Companion can be used. Digital twins enable an overlapping exchange of data and can contain simulations, algorithms and services that describe or influence the properties or behavior of the represented object. In addition to training in the virtual space, digital work cards can be processed, remote support can be requested and reports can be created. Depending on the application and situation, this can be done online or offline. The range of functions of Tech Companion is constantly being enhanced.
Tech Companion

Tech Companion as door opener for on-board digitization - available offline and on commercial of the shelf equipment
Tech Companion is a digital system of different modules to connect workers with the digital model and provide technical support and operational insights. The highest priority is to improve operational efficiency.
Digital innovations such as remote expert support, visualized condition-monitoring data and graphics, and digital work cards connect workers with the right people and information for service delivery and reporting.
Tech Companion provides offline and online possibilities. All solutions can be used offline without internet connection (excl. remote support) and are available on all commercial of the shelf (COTS) equipment (tablet, notebook, VR-headset, mobile phones).

Digital Work Cards
Analyzing training materials and operations manuals and converting manufacturer’s technical manuals into interactive customized operational and maintenance tasks lists (work cards) that provide procedural information on the task and collect data on the maintenance completed, streamlining service reporting and supporting compliance.
The digitized manuals are imported directly out of the documentation system to create a task-driven system, which unifies all work card data for the maintenance environment. Access to the Digital Work Card is provided on mobile/desktop and at the point of maintenance and service.

3D Training
Integrated 3D training lessons which the technician is able to access to support their maintenance task. Enables technicians to visualize the procedural steps for a task.
3D models of customer’s assets are created and optimized for delivery on multi-platforms. The optimized 3D models are used to create training lessons, such as for repair, disassembly, and assembly. The interactive 3D work instructions are provided for use on tablet/desktop to visualize the maintenance process.

Remote Support
Secure/encrypted, multi-platform communication application (chats, VoIP, video and screen sharing) containing live 3D mesh annotation on real-world objects available for multi-platform devices (iOS, Android, Windows).
Encrypted end-to-end chats, VoIP and video communication to facilitate remote support between technicians and other users. Voice, video, and text communication on multi-platform devices (iOS, Android, Windows) including chat, video, live annotations (2D and 3D), file sharing, screen sharing, and more.
Integration into Task Management System to facilitate communication with other team members during the completion of a service task. Possibility to add other users within a task, to create service reports, to take photos of the work completed, and to save all chats and related documents in the task.
Advanced annotation capabilities are provided that allow a remote user to mark on the equipment or system that a technician is servicing. Technicians are supported by operating in complex environments through 3D annotation in an end-to-end encrypted and secure environment.

Reporting
Using notes, screenshots, and images taken in the field and collected in Digital Work Cards in a predefined report form. Gathering the parts needed to complete the tasks, followed by direct ordering with warehouse connectivity.
Recording of relevant contract data by linking to different systems (CRM, ...) and recording of conditions of the asset on site before and after the service mission.
After all information has been collected, the customer has to sign to confirm that the work is done and all the steps have been completed. After signing and submitting the form, the report is extracted into the predefined reporting form.
